In cooperation with the Filmmakers Association of Croatia, ZFF will host a masterclass by the award-winning Icelandic director R\u00fanar R\u00fanarsson, whose films have been featured in ZFF\u2019s programs several times. As many as two of R\u00fanarsson\u2019s films have been made in co-production with Croatia (<\/span>Sparrows<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>When the Light Breaks<\/span><\/i><\/a>), one of which, <\/span>When the Light Breaks<\/span><\/i>, will screen in this year\u2019s ZFF program Together Again. The masterclass will be moderated by Croatian director and producer Daria Bla\u017eevi\u0107, and in the conversation with her, R\u00fanarsson will self-reflect on his cinema and career, addressing his artistic approach and the challenges and advantages of taking on the dual role of screenwriter and director. Using examples from his own films, the filmmaker will also refer to the unique circumstances of working in the film industry, in the context of so-called small cinemas such as Iceland and Croatia.<\/span><\/p>\n

R\u00fanar R\u00fanarsson (Reykjavik, 1977) is a well-known name to ZFF audiences, who have had the opportunity to follow his career since his first steps in short film in the early years of the festival. Daria Bla\u017eevi\u0107 is a film director, producer, and cultural worker. She graduated in film directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and the Film Academy Vienna. She is the president of the Cinema Club Zagreb and head of the artistic organisation Kadromat, where she works as a producer.
